Frank Freeman's Dance Club
Frank Freeman and his wife ran dance classes in Kidderminster for many years. They also ran weekly dances and, after first becoming a haven for mods, from 1968 The Dance Club featured many of the most influential bands of the era.
John Peel was at the time the most influential DJ and he visited the Dance Club on many occasions, once bringing with him Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band who played a famous gig at the club.
Colin Hill was a young photographer and he captured many of the acts who appeared at the Dance Club. His photographs capture the spirit of one of the most dynamic of modern music eras and they formed the basis of an exhibition in Kidderminster Library in 2008.
The photographs below are a smaple of the many pictures that Colin took at the time. If you would like a copy of any of these or to have more details please email Colin at info@chillphotography.co.uk
